Thunderstorms: 34 departments on orange alert for Saturday: News

Météo-France updated its vigilance map on Saturday June 29 at 10 a.m. From now on, 34 departments are placed on orange alert for thunderstorms for Saturday.

Météo-France’s orange storm warning is extended to 34 departments on Saturday, June 29. In its bulletin published Saturday at 6 a.m., Météo-France added the departments of Tarn, Aveyron, Lot, Cantal, Allier and Ain. Then in the 10 a.m. bulletin, the departments of Puy-de-Dôme, Loire and Rhône are now on orange warning. The other departments on orange warning are Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Moselle, Vosges, Territoire de Belfort, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Marne, Ardennes, Aube, Haute-Marne, Haute-Saône, Doubs, Jura, Côte-d’Or, Yonne, Nièvre, Cher, Vienne, Deux-Sèvres, Charente-Maritime, Charente, Gironde and Landes.

In its updated bulletin on Saturday morning, Météo-France specifies that “the altitude depression (‘cold drop’) at the origin of the stormy degradation is currently rising over Spain towards the Pyrenees”. The orange warning for thunderstorms is expected from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., then in the afternoon until midnight. Please note that “from the Massif Central to the North-East: the stormy episode has not yet started”. It is possible that this orange vigilance will extend to the departments of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, or even Occitanie and Nouvelle-Aquitaine during the day, Météo-France also warns.

14 departments on orange alert for Sunday

According to Météo-France forecasts, 14 departments are placed on orange alert for storms on Sunday July 1. This orange vigilance is planned from midnight to 3 a.m. for the Ardennes, Marne, Aube, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Haute-Marne, Bas-Rhin, Vosges, Doubs, Jura, Haut-Rhin, Haute-Saône, Moselle.
