Thunderstorms, strong gusts and precipitation, hailstorms… The weather this Saturday promises to be eventful.

The meteorological institute had already warned that the end of the week would be eventful. Météo-France has classified 31 departments on orange alert this Saturday, June 29 due to violent thunderstorms, heavy precipitation but also gusts as well as periods falling which will occur in “a very large part of the territory”.

Unstable weather ends this week where summer temperatures were felt in almost all of the country. From this end of the morning in the Landes to Poitou, strong storms will occur, dumping up to 80 mm of precipitation, indicated Météo-France. Hail may also fall in the area.

The storms will extend to the Centre-Val de Loire. From the Pays de Loire to Île-de-France, Champagne-Ardenne and Lorraine, only a few “locally stormy” episodes of rain are expected.

A threatening sky in Occitania

In Occitania, the sky is also likely to be very busy. Some lightning may cross the sky from this morning. A much more marked stormy degradation will be felt in the Pyrenees up to the Massif Central, according to Météo-France forecasts.

Caution in the East

THE storms will be even more marked and violent in the afternoon, in the East of the Pyrenees to Limousin, then in the department of Auvergne-Rhône Alpes with “storms which could multiply, giving rise to heavy rain, sometimes hail and powerful gusts of wind.”

The unstable sky will move again, at the end of the evening, towards the Centre-Val de Loire to the Île-de-France, Bourgogne Franche-Comté and finally the Grand-Est, with there also heavy precipitation, violent gusts of wind and hail which is particularly expected in the North-East of the Country where the weather risks being harsher than in the rest of France.

Brittany and the North spared

Only the regions of Brittany up to Nord-Pas de Calais (as well as Corsica) will be spared from this bad weather. The weather is expected to be calmer, although gray.

List of departments concerned: Landes, Gironde, Charente-Maritime, Charente, Deux-Sèvres, Vienne, Cher, Nièvre, Yonne, Côte-d’Or, Jura, Saône-et-Loire, Doubs, Territoire de Belfort, Haute-Marne, Aube, Haute- Saône, Ardennes, Marne, Meuse, Bas-Rhin, Moselle, Vosges, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Allier, Ain, Cantal, Lot, Aveyron and Tarn.
