The Manche department is placed on orange vigilance “ snow and ice» since 8 o'clock this Thursday November 21, 2024 .
The Departmental Operations Center has been activated at the Manche prefecture since 7 a.m. on Thursday. The orange alert will last until at least 6 a.m. Friday morning.
THE conditions de circulation can be difficult, the prefect of Manche recommends avoiding taking the road during the snow phenomenon.
A 84 impassable at Gouvets
In the Gouvets sector, the A84 is impassable in both directions of traffic.
Very difficult traffic on several axes
Traffic is very delicate on several axes according to Bison Futé:
- A84 (14, 50) between Caen and Louvigné-du-Désert,
- N176 (22, 35, 50) between Pontorson and Tramain,
- N175 (50) between Avranches and Pontorson,
- N174 (50) between Saint-Lo and Valognes,
- N814 (50) Caen ring road of Caen,
Very tricky on departmental roads
The Department updates the situation on departmental roads in real time on Inforoutes50. At the end of the morning, the roads are red in the Villedieu-les-Poêles, Avranches and Coutances sectors. It's orange everywhere else.
Windy this afternoon
The snow phenomenon will be accompanied in the afternoon gustsmay exceed 100 km/h on the coasts. We expect an accumulation of snow of up to 10 to 15 cm over the day, particularly on the hills in the south of the department.
Due to increased risk of accidents the prefecture recommends:
- anticipate your trips
- adapt your speed;
- increase safety distances;
- respect the traffic restrictions and diversions put in place;
- facilitate the passage of clearance equipment;
- avoid falls by salting the roads and clearing the sidewalks near your home.
THE road managersare ready to intervene to ensure the viability ofmain and secondary roads.
