Following the deterioration of weather conditions, Météo France has placed Haute-Marne on orange snow-ice alert this November 21. The drop in nighttime temperatures – during the night from Thursday to Friday – leads to the risk of icy conditions on the department's road network.
In consultation with school transporters, the prefect of Haute-Marne prohibits the circulation of school and inter-urban passenger transport vehicles on the entire road network of the department on Friday, November 22, from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. The prefect calls on all drivers to be vigilant and exercise the greatest caution.
Recommended individual measures: If possible, limit your travel; If you must travel, remain careful and vigilant; Find out about traffic conditions and prepare your trip and route; Respect the traffic restrictions and diversions put in place; Make it easier for road and highway clearing equipment to pass, in particular by parking your vehicle outside the traffic lanes.
In the name of the “precautionary principle”
Prefect Régine Pam issued an order banning the movement of school transport for the morning of this Friday, November 22. If the snow episode is expected to end during the night from Thursday to Friday, its decision responds to the application of the “precautionary principle”. Indeed, temperatures must drop overnight, with the associated risk of icy conditions. However, Météo France predicts that they will rise again this Friday morning. Schools will remain open all day.
