On June 28, Prime Minister Dr. Garry Conille installed Emmanuel Pierre as the new Director General at the head of the General Directorate of Civil Protection. During his speech, the head of government asked the new head to take urgent measures in this hurricane season that appears threatening.

The installation ceremony of Mr. Emmanuel Pierre took place in the presence of the Minister of the Environment, Mr. Moïse Jean-Pierre Fils, the Chief of Staff of the Minister of the Interior and Local Authorities, Mr. Jean Michelet Mondestin, and personalities from various institutions of national life. Mr. Emmanuel Pierre replaces Mr. Jerry Chandler, who has held this position since 2020.

During his speech, the tenant of the Prime Minister’s office and current Minister of the Interior and Local Authorities, said that the choice of Mr. Emmanuel Pierre to head the DGPC aims to strengthen the effectiveness of risk and disaster management in the country. According to Mr. Conille, Mr. Pierre is competent to lead this structure, especially in this cyclone season which seems to be threatening.

Further, the President of the National Committee for Risk and Disaster Management (CNGRD), Garry Conille, promised to deploy efforts and take strict measures within the framework of government action regarding the roadmap and the national risk management plan of 2019, which should focus on the protection and security of the Haitian population.

In addition, the government’s number one asked the various actors to mobilize in order to better prepare for a possible natural disaster, while promising to support the new head of the DGPC in the accomplishment of his mission.

For his part, Mr. Emmanuel Pierre thanked the government for choosing him for this position, while promising to do his best to fulfill his task with the help of his colleagues, hoping that the work will be carried out as a team. . It aims to propose solutions according to the government’s vision while focusing on the implementation of the three-year operational plan 2024-2027, which is part of the national risk and disaster management plan 2019-2030.
