George Springer hit two three-run homers and the Toronto Blue Jays dominated 9-2 against the New York Yankees on Thursday.

The right fielder also singled.

Springer entered the game hitting .196 with six home runs, including two in the first two days of the season.

His first home run of the game helped his team take a 5-0 lead in the first inning.

He also scored four goals in the second inning; he thus reached the plateau of 250 career circuits.

Toronto deserved a second consecutive victory, after a series of seven defeats.

Second hitter Isiah Kiner-Falefa was hit by a pitch in the first, second and eighth innings.

Jose Berrios (7-6) allowed two runs and two hits in seven innings, striking out eight batters.

Last season, he went 0-3 against the Yankees.

The Yankees lost a fourth straight game, their worst streak of the season.

They have only two victories in 11 matches.

Juan Soto and Aaron Judge had a combined 0-for-7 night, striking out four times.

Trent Grisham hit a two-run homer in a losing effort.

Carlos Rodon (9-5) gave up eight runs and 10 hits in five innings.

The game took place in front of 36,423 fans at the Rogers Centre.

Starting Friday will be Yusei Kikuchi and Marcus Stroman, a member of the Blue Jays from 2014 to 2019 including a 13-win campaign in 2017.

Kikuchi has been beaten in his last two outings, allowing nine runs in six total innings.

Stroman is 5-1 since mid-May.
