Two days before the opening of Free Agency, the Raptors reached an agreement with Immanuel Quickley for a contract extension. The franchise would have offered a deal of $175 million over 5 seasons to the former Knicks player.
Don’t blink, there is a “1” before the “75”. Immanuel Quickley, traded from the Knicks to the Raptors for OG Anunoby in December, got his hands on quite a jackpot. According to insider Shams Charania, we are talking about around 35 million per year over five years, and a guaranteed total of 175 million dollars.
The Toronto Raptors’ desire to extend the guard is nothing new. With Quickley a restricted free agent, the franchise could match any offer from the outside. No risk was taken with this contract offered two days before the opening of free agency.

Upon his arrival in Canada, Immanuel Quickley quickly integrated himself into the back-court. Especially at the end of the season close to the fair atmosphere, he benefited from a good number of shooting tickets and convinced with his qualities as a sniper and distributor. In 38 meetings with the Dinos, IQ shows a very nice statistical line 18.6 points, 6.8 assists, 4.8 rebounds with 39% 3-point success.
Still under his rookie contract in 2023-24, he was earning around $4 million per season, making his deal one of the most profitable in the league. For the next two seasons, his salary is rather similar to that of… Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Michael Porter Jr., Bam Adebayo or De’Aaron Fox. The situations are obviously not similar, and the NBA cap continues to explode, but still.
Aware of the leader’s contractual situation for months, the Raptors probably did not make the choice… Quickley. His extension follows that of Scottie Barnes, who will also hit the jackpot.
The Toronto Raptors took out the checkbook but secured one of the pillars of their reconstruction on the back lines. We suspect that Immanuel Quickley is a very serious guy, but in his place, we would celebrate this deal with dignity at the start of summer.
