This initiative put forward by the Chambre de commerce du Grand Sainte-Agathe aims to strengthen social ties, combat isolation, honour the life experiences of seniors, encourage volunteer involvement and raise awareness about mistreatment. For this first edition, Sister Angèle will act as the event’s ambassador. “We hope that this new initiative will encourage everyone to participate and strengthen intergenerational ties,” said Alexandre Girard-Duchaine, General Manager of the Chambre de commerce du Grand Sainte-Agathe.

A collaborative project

The result of a community and economic consultation project, the project can count on the support of organizations such as Prévoyance vers les aînés, Palliacco, the FADOQ des Laurentides and the Centre d’action bénévole des Laurentides.

As part of the activity days planned for September 13 and 14, a participant passport bringing together the region’s community resources will be published in L’info du Nord in Sainte-Agathe. Participants will be able to enter a draw by filling out their visitor passport. Also, culinary workshops bringing together young people from the Polyvalente des Monts and seniors and led by Sister Angèle will be offered to the public on September 5 at the Manufacture. Seniors will have to pay to participate in this activity and half of the profits raised will be donated to the fundraising campaign for the work on the Polyvalente des Monts auditorium. Culinary workshops will also be offered to entrepreneurs, half of which will be donated to the Sister Angèle Foundation.

Furthermore, please note that the activities offered on September 13 and 14 are free.

“We are delighted to launch this first edition of the Seniors’ Salon, an event that highlights the richness of experiences and the invaluable contribution of our seniors to our society. Thanks to the support of our partners, we can offer a great event. We warmly invite all citizens to join us in celebrating and supporting our seniors in a friendly and festive atmosphere,” declared Alexandre Girard-Duchaine in conclusion.
