The Air and Space Force puts on a show at Versailles for its 90th anniversary

The Air and Space Force will deliver an exceptional air show at the Château de Versailles on Friday, June 28, to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Air and Space Force, with spectacular demonstrations of Rafale, aerobatic planes and drones.

An (almost) century-old history

The Air and Space Force is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. Officially founded on July 2, 1934, when the 1934 law was signed, it has evolved and adapted to the challenges of each era. The Air Force was born from the need to control airspace, an area that has become crucial during global conflicts. Since its creation, it has made history with its technical prowess and its commitment to major defense and humanitarian missions.

The Palace of Versailles, a symbolic place

To commemorate this emblematic anniversary, the Air Force has chosen an equally symbolic location: the Palace of Versailles. This choice is not insignificant. The historical link between the Air Force and Versailles is deep. In fact, the first army headquarters was located in the small stable of the castle. In addition, the Air School trained its first students there between 1935 and 1937. By returning to Versailles, the Air Force honors its roots and offers a memorable spectacle to more than 20,000 spectators.

An exceptional program

Friday June 28 will be marked by a unique air show. From 8 p.m., visitors will be able to attend spectacular demonstrations. The evening will begin with a special forces demonstration aboard a Caracal helicopter, followed by the parachutists from the Phénix team. The aerobatics of the French team, world champions, will perform impressive acrobatic figures. The large A400M carrier and the famous Rafale fighter plane will show their maneuverability and power.

The evening will culminate with the Patrouille de France and its AlphaJets, offering a synchronized aerial ballet. At 11pm, a drone show will light up the Versailles sky, accompanied by a pyrotechnic display. This mix of modern technology and aeronautical tradition promises to dazzle spectators.

In addition to the air show, the event aims to bring the Air Force closer to the public. A dedicated village will be set up at the end of Avenue de Paris, where the public will be able to discover aircraft such as the Alpha Jet and the Mirage 2000, as well as flight simulators. Visitors will be able to meet aviators and learn more about their profession and their passion.
