“These children are here to present the fruits of their labor in a collective manner.” It is almost 1:30 p.m. this Friday, June 28, 2024, at the foot of the Château de Caen (Calvados). Under the kind eyes of Isabelle Richard, responsible for relations with audiences and territories at the National Choreographic Center of Caen Normandy, around one hundred students from five classes (CE2 to CM2) from the Paul-Gernez, Fernand-Léger, 5-Continents schools and La-Maladrerie perform a few dance steps under the gaze of many of their comrades and sometimes surprised passers-by.
Meeting with artists
For them, this involves publicly restoring, through a performance, the artistic and cultural education path followed during the school year, in the company of their teachers and alongside the artists Constance Diard and Mélanie Giffard. “During the year, we welcomed these young people to the Choreographic Center, continues Isabelle Richard. The students were able to discover the different professions it offers but also the artists at work. »
This project obviously gave pride of place to creation on the theme “Landscape body”. “In this respect, we wanted, through this choreographic work, that all the students be actors of their own imagination so that they reveal their own identity.”
