Morocco stands out for its strong presence in the women’s categories of the CAF Awards 2024, revealed by the CAF African Football Confederation.
Sanaa Mssoudy, player of AS FAR and the women’s national team, is among the candidates for the prestigious title of CAF Player of the Year. She is competing with nine other African players playing on the continent and internationally, including Sandrine Niyonkuru (Burundi / FC Masar), Tabitha Chawinga (Malawi / Olympique Lyonnais), Temwa Chawinga (Malawi / Kansas City), Chiamaka Nnadozie ( Nigeria / Paris FC), Rasheedat Ajibade (Nigeria / Atletico Madrid), Jermaine Seoposenwe (South Africa South/Monterrey), Thembi Kgatlana (South Africa/Tigres UANL), Barbara Banda (Zambia/Orlando Pride) and Racheal Kundananji (Zambia/Bay FC).
In addition, Sanaa Mssoudy is also nominated for the title of Interclub Player of the Year, alongside her teammates from AS FAR and the national team, Doha El Madani and Khadija Er-Rmichi.
For her part, Khadija Er-Rmichi is in the running for the Goalkeeper of the Year award, while Doha El Madani is also a candidate for the Young Player of the Year title, as is Lina Mokhtar Jamai, who plays for Paris Saint -Germain.
Regarding the Coach of the Year award, Mohamed Amine Alioua, coach of AS FAR, and Lamia Boumehdi, Moroccan coach of the Congolese club TP Mazembe, are among the nominees.
Morocco is also represented in the National Team of the Year category by two selections: the women’s A team and the women’s U20 team.
Finally, AS FAR, finalist of the CAF Women’s Champions League currently organized in Morocco, is competing for the title of Club of the Year.
The CAF Awards 2024 ceremony, which rewards performances achieved between January and October 2024, will be held in Marrakech on December 16.
