From Paris to Paris, the world tennis circuit is making a stopover in London. While the players have concluded the clay court season at Roland-Garros and will return to the courts at the Porte d’Auteuil during the Olympic Games (July 26 – August 11), all have set foot on the British grass as the 2024 edition of Wimbledon begins this Monday, 1is July. Last year’s winners, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz and Czech Marketa Vondrousova will try to retain their titles at the All England Club. Time, channel, favorites… Here’s everything you need to know about the London Grand Slam.

What time to watch Wimbledon?

During the first rounds, matches will start at 11 a.m. on the annex courts. On the center court, the matches will start at 1:30 p.m. while they will start at 1 p.m. on court no. 1. As is now the case since the 2022 edition, the tournament also continues on the first Sunday of the fortnight.

On which channel can I watch Wimbledon live?

Like every year, beIN Sports broadcasts the entire competition. All matches will be available on their broadcast channels.

What is the Wimbledon schedule?

The 2024 edition takes place from Monday 1is July to Sunday July 13. Traditionally, the Grand Slam on grass begins three weeks after the end of Roland-Garros. As is customary, it is Carlos Alcaraz, outgoing winner, who will play the first match of the fortnight on center court. From Tuesday July 9, the program will be completely differentiated between the men’s draw and the women’s draw.

The women’s quarter-finals will take place on Tuesday and the men’s quarter-finals will take place on Wednesday. The same goes for the women’s semi-finals on Thursday and the men’s semi-finals on Friday. Finally, the women’s final is scheduled for Saturday and the men’s final is scheduled for Sunday.

Who are the French competing at Wimbledon?

France will be represented in the men’s draw by 12 players. Namely: Ugo Humbert (16th), Adrian Mannarino (22nd), Arthur Fils (34th), Gaël Monfils (40th), Arthur Rinderknech (68th), Arthur Cazaux (98th), Corentin Moutet (55th), Constant Lestienne (90th), Hugo Gaston (70th), Maxime Janvier (225th), Lucas Pouille (213th) and Quentin Halys (223rd).

In the women’s table, there will be 5 players defending the colors blue white red: Caroline Garcia (23rd), Clara Burel (43rd), Diane Parry (53rd), Océane Dodin (80th), Varvara Gracheva (68th).

Who are the Wimbledon favorites?

Seven-time winner on the London turf, Novak Djokovic represents the main unknown of this 2024 edition of Wimbledon. Forfeited at Roland-Garros before his quarter-final against Casper Ruud, the Serbian underwent surgery on his right knee in Paris. If the first forecasts seemed to force him to give up on Wimbledon, the man who abandoned his throne of world No. 1 to Jannik Sinner came to test his knee a few days before the start of the tournament. Conclusive test since the record holder for the number of Major titles will be on the starting line.

For the rest, Carlos Alcaraz, winner at Roland-Garros and defending champion at Wimbledon, or Jannik Sinner, new world No. 1 and winner of his first title on grass in Halle, appear to be the obvious favorites.

On the women’s side, the list of contenders for the coronation seems more extensive. World No. 1 Iga Swiatek, victorious at Roland-Garros for the fourth time in her career, does not have the same margin on grass. Aryna Sabalenka (3rd), semi-finalist last year and winner at the Australian Open in January, is also among the players capable of winning. Same observation for Ons Jabeur (10th), double finalist in 2022 and 2023, who remains a customer on grass even if he has fallen slightly in the rankings in recent months. Without forgetting Elena Rybakina (4th) or Jessica Pegula (5th), victorious in Berlin (WTA 500)
