The Morbihan prefecture communicates:
“The prefect informs you that the department of Morbihan is placed in a state of Orange level meteorological vigilance (level 3 out of 4) for the risk of violent winds from 8 a.m., Thursday November 21, and until 5 p.m. the same day.
The department is also placed on yellow alert (level 2 out of 4) for risk of snow-ice and rain-floods from 4 a.m. tonight from November 20 to 21 and for the day.
The prefect calls for the greatest caution.
Weather update
In connection with the passage of CAETANO, the westerly wind sets in at the very beginning of Thursday on the Atlantic coast, then progresses inland by Thursday afternoon. We expect frequent gusts of up to 100 or 110 km/h in the orange departments.
On the coast and the islands, gusts reach 110 to 120 km/h. The wind is first oriented west in the morning then turns northwest behind the depression in the afternoon.
Cautionary instructions to be observed by the population
Orange – Strong wind
• Limit your movements and if this is not possible, be careful when traveling (risk of drifting with gusts),
• Do not walk in the forest or on the coast,
• In town, be attentive to possible falling objects,
• Store or secure sensitive objects or objects likely to be damaged,
• Do not work on roofs and under no circumstances touch electrical wires that have fallen to the ground,
• It is essential to install generators outside buildings.
Yellow – Snow-Ice
• Be very careful and vigilant if you absolutely have to travel.
• Find out about traffic conditions.
• Respect the traffic restrictions and diversions put in place.
• Bring minimum equipment in case you are forced to wait several hours on the road in your vehicle.
• Do not use for heating:
◦ appliances not intended for this use: stove, brazier, etc.
◦ continuous combustion auxiliary heaters. These devices should only operate intermittently.
Yellow – Rain-Flood
• Do not under any circumstances, on foot or by car, enter a submerged path.
• Do not approach watercourses and areas that are flooded or usually flooded.
