While Occitanie, including Aveyron, is on yellow alert mainly for wind, Lozère is on alert for snow and ice this Thursday, November 21. On Aubrac, in both departments, the first snowflakes are falling.
The first snowflakes have been falling since last night on the heights of Aveyron and Lozère. Indeed, it snows on Aubrac and Viadène above 900-1,000 m, as reported by Météo Sud-Aveyron. The soils are whitening in these areas for now, but the snow is not expected to hold as we will continue to be between a rain-snow limit.

Aveyron, however, has been dealing with rain since Wednesday. From North to South Aveyron and up to the Monts de Lacaune, the accumulations reached between 30-40 mm on the reliefs (Lévézou, Monts de Lacaune), see more than 50-60 mm on the Aubrac and generally 10 to 25 mm on the rest of the department.

Rain-snow limit
Snow is also present on the shoulders of the A75, in the Saint-Flour and Col de la Fageole sector. Temperatures are expected to rise over the next few hours as well as the rain-snow limit above 1,500 m. The rain will take over.
Winter or snow tires for 42 municipalities in Aveyron
The Mountain law requires motorists located in municipalities in 34 departments of France to equip themselves with snow or winter tires between November 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025.
