While the Olympic flame is in Lorraine at the moment, in Meuse this Saturday, June 29, the guest of France Bleu Sud Lorraine is Philippe Fabris, president of ASPTT Nancy. The Meurthe-et-Mosellan sports movement that watches the flame pass through Moselle and Meuse while the Department refused to pay for the arrival of the relay: “we always regret not seeing a party but I respect and understand the choice of the departmental council of Meurthe-et-Moselle in a complicated period for many departments“.

With his 2,200 members, Philippe Fabris does not see any enthusiasm surrounding these Olympic Games: “There is pride in having the Games in Paris but we are far away, we have no events and the obstacle is the price. We don’t have the impression of having popular Games“The political situation also puts these Games on the back burner.

This does not prevent Philippe Fabris and the sections of ASPTT Nancy from having an influx of licensees in September: “If in athletics we have two Olympic champions, it will go well […] To attract people, you need athletes who inspire you“If the club has enough educators, what may be lacking are sports facilities: “when you have to put 30 handball players on a field… We are limited on the slots in the gymnasiums. We missed the boat a few years ago on gymnasium renovations or creations. We have gymnasiums in agony“.
