Two rescue operations were carried out in the Strait of Dover on 26 and 27 June, resulting in the rescue of 153 migrants in difficulty. These operations were coordinated by the maritime prefecture of the Channel and the North Sea.

The first rescue mission

During the night of Wednesday June 26 to Thursday June 27, two rescue operations were carried out in the Strait of Pas-de-Calais to come to the aid of migrants. The maritime prefect of the Channel and the North Sea affirmed that these interventions made it possible to save 153 people. The first was launched after a boat left the coast near Gravelines. After several hours, the migrants on board launched a call for help. The crew of the patrol boat Armoise then began rescue operations, supported by the Ridens, a rescue ship sent by the Cross. A total of 77 people were rescued and brought back to port.

A new operation carried out on June 27

On the morning of June 27, a new mission was carried out near the coast of Le Portel, several media outlets report. A ship in difficulty carrying 76 migrants was assisted by the crew of the Minck. These people were taken safely to the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer, where they were taken care of by the emergency services and the border police authorities. The maritime prefecture has warned of the dangers associated with crossing the Channel, one of the busiest areas in the world.
