TOULON: TPM renews its commitment to the Pelagos sanctuary

After a first period of 3 years, the TPM Metropolis renewed in June 2024 its commitment to the protection of Mediterranean marine mammals by adopting the new Pelagos partnership charter.

Joining this tripartite agreement between France, Italy and Monaco marks a clear desire on the part of TPM to act positively towards the conservation of these species and their habitats. For the occasion, a documentary film on Human-Dolphin relations produced in the Port-Cros National Park, will be previewed on October 17 at the Théâtre Liberté. Come many!

The new Pelagos partnership charter was adopted by the Metropolis in June 2024. Membership of this tripartite agreement signed in 1999 between France, Italy and Monaco in order to preserve Mediterranean marine mammals, reinforces metropolitan action for the preservation of the exceptional marine biodiversity of its territory. For the record, the 1time charter was signed in December 2021, between the TPM Metropolis, the Maritime Prefecture of the Mediterranean and the Pelagos sanctuary.

A documentary film about human-dolphin relations

This signature thus reinforces the actions developed by the Metropolis in this area, such as the current study on cetaceans frequenting Natura 2000 sites in the sector going from the Embiez archipelago to Cap Sicié or even the financial support for the National Park of Port-Cros for the realization of a documentary film on Human-Dolphin relations.
