The 2024 NHL selection session is generating a lot of interest among those around and among Océanic fans.

Not only is defenseman Spencer Gill the highest ranked among all QMJHL prospects, with 29erank, on the list of players playing in North America from Central Recruiting, four other players have a chance of hearing their name.

Gill could therefore be drafted at the end of the first round. He gained points during the last season in the eyes of the recruiters. If he is not called up on Friday, it should not be long on Saturday.

Four more hopes

Alexandre Blais, Quinn Kennedy and Dominic Pilote are also on the list of top prospects. We must also add the name of captain Jacob Mathieu whose successful last season clearly attracted attention. He will also be there.

Also worth watching is Eliott L’Italien, a native of Amqui who played part of his minor hockey in the regional structure of the Albatros, who is listed as a potential 4th pick.e round (no. 128). It bears the colors of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

Finally, Rimouski Maxim Massé is, like Gill, identified as a potential choice (30e) first round. Le Journal Le Soir met him before his departure for Vegas.

The first round on Friday will begin at 4 p.m. local time, 7 p.m. Quebec time. Rounds 2 through 7 will follow on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Pacific time, 11:30 a.m. Quebec time.
