Metz Handball now knows its Champions League opponents with the draw made at the start of the evening.

After announcing the team of the season, the EHF has proceeded to the draw for the group stage of the Champions League 24-25: Metz Handball, unfortunate semi-finalist of the last edition, had an affordable route.

They will once again challenge FTC Budapest, the Slovenes of Krim and CSM Bucharest, whom they eliminated last May to qualify for the Final Four. They will also meet up with the Norwegians from Storhamar and Podravka after having crossed their paths in 2022/2023 and 2019/2020 respectively. On the other hand, the Dragonnes will discover Nykøbing and Bistrita, the second Romanian collective with the CSM. The Messines will thus avoid a majority of the favorites present in the other, much denser group with Brest. The French Champions will then have all the cards in hand to compete for the top 3 with Bucharest, Krim and the FTC who have been very active in terms of their recruitment. The Arena will be able to have the pleasure of rediscovering some old Messines with the returns of Tamara Horacek, Grace Zaadi, Orlane Kanor and Laura Glauser.

Like every season, Emmanuel Mayonnade’s team will try to play the leading roles to obtain a new qualification in the quarter-finals. This group stage will begin on the weekend of September 7 and 8, a few days before the championship.
