Legislative elections 2024dossier

Three days before the legislative elections, a rally organized by more than a hundred associations, unions and independent media brought together several thousand people this Thursday, June 27. On stage, several artists and intellectuals, including Alice Diop and Anna Mouglalis, called for blocking the far right.

Once again, as on several occasions since the announcement of the dissolution and the holding of early legislative elections, a scene was set up this Thursday evening at Place de la République, in Paris. Next to the speakers, a giant screen to broadcast the event live. The rally, which attracted several thousand people, was organized by more than a hundred associations, unions and independent media and the idea was to recall the attachment to freedoms and to call for fight against extreme RIGHT.

While the rally has not yet started, the organizing media tents are making their newspapers available. Loup Espargilière, creator of the independent media Vert who participated in the organization, explains his arrival: “Our media is committed to fighting the extreme right. If the RN comes to power, talking about ecology will no longer serve any purpose because it is at the bottom of their political and media agenda. Furthermore, independent media are directly threatened by the far right.”

On the other side of the stage, Edwy Plenel, former director of Mediapart, makes his way through the crowd. “Since Mediapart has existed, we have been sounding the alarm about the risk of a victory for the extreme right. It’s not a political family like any other, it’s the enemy
