The Tafili, forces of nature: discover our series on siblings at CA Brive before the youth finals (3/4)

On the occasion of the CAB Cadets Alamercery and Crabos finals, this Saturday in Casteljaloux, we are producing a series of portraits of siblings. Exceptionally, four siblings will play together on the field or each in a team, as the symbol of a certain success of the Brive team. Third episode with the Tafilis.

To the right of the fray in Cadets Alamercery and Crabos, CA Brive will be able to count, this Saturday, on the two Tafili brothers, Giovanni and Pierre-Chanel, physical monsters with endearing personalities.

You only need to spend a moment with Pierre-Chanel, the oldest of the Tafili brothers and Giovanni, the youngest, to understand their relationship. Endless jokes, little barbs and infectious bursts of laughter reflect the very strong links between the two right pillars of the Cadets Alamercery and Crabos teams from CA Brive.

“We are crazy accomplices. We are always together, we do everything together,” indicates the pillar of the Cadets, Giovanni, quickly cut off by his big brother. “We do almost everything together. Everyone takes care of their girlfriend, eh,” Pierre-Chanel bursts out laughing. “It’s true that you are a big duck with your darling. » (empty)

The tone is set between the two players trained at CA Brive since they were 6 and 7 years old. For ten years, then. And the journey since their first steps is immense. Like the measurements, in particular, of Pierre-Chanel, 17 years old who displays 1.88 meters and 146 kilos.

1.88 m and 146 kilos for Pierre-Chanel,
1, 81 and 112 kg for Giovanni

An impressive physique which obviously does damage in the game. “He is overpowering on the fundamentals, whether in scrum or on the ball. When he gets going, he moves people,” confides his manager, Mayeul Duboisset. What does he prefer?? ” The fray. Making the guy in front of you squeal is really fun. »

Giovanni, 16 years old, would seem almost “small” next to his brother at 1.81 meters tall and 112 kilos strong. “He is gifted and a force of nature. In addition to being obviously strong, Giovanni is also very skillful with the ball in hand and fast. In the future, he will perhaps also play hooker,” explains the Brive technician.

A love of combat and forward play inherited from their father, Atonio, and their uncle, Paga, recent French Pro D2 champion with RC Vannes.

“We were in the stands, in Toulouse, for the final against Grenoble. We even entered the field at the final whistle. It’s incredible what he’s been experiencing these last few seasons,” confides, admiringly, Giovanni who learned at the very beginning of the week that the whole Tafili family would also be present this Saturday, on the Casteljaloux side to push behind the Cadets Alamercery and Crabs.

“It’s going to be a crowd, eh, because the family is large between Vannes, Orléans, Aix and Brive,” smiles Pierre-Chanel, who undoubtedly expects to hear a little more from his father.

“We think about the French team all the time”

“For three matches, he discovered the drum, he spends his time banging on it. It’s very hot to set the mood,” laugh the two brothers who now can’t wait to get on the field to finally play these finals. »
And obviously raise a shield before imagining even more things in a slightly more distant future.

“What if we have a dream?? The French team, of course. We think about it all the time but first, there is a match to play,” confides Pierre-Chanel. A match against Toulouse with the Crabos and one against Bayonne for Giovanni with the Cadets.
