Weather report. Snow fell on the Vosges, Haut-Rhin on orange alert on Thursday

The Vosges massif went into winter mode this Wednesday morning and this should become more pronounced tomorrow. Snowfall slightly disrupted traffic at altitude, noted patrollers from the European Community of Alsace.

“Delicate” traffic

In detail, traffic is considered “delicate” in most of the Hautes Vosges passes, notes the CEA in its 8:45 a.m. bulletin. The discomfort is limited, but you have to be wary of some white frosts, frost deposits and other patches of ice. Fresh, thin snow has temporarily affected the roadway above 1000 m altitude, sometimes lower.

Temperatures flirting with -10°C Thursday

From this Thursday, November 21, further precipitation is forecast, with a drop in temperatures. Some forecasters are talking about a very clear cooling on the ridges, with temperatures around -10°C in extreme cases, but more likely -3 to -5°C.

You can therefore put on your snow tires, but not yet your downhill skis: we expect a strong softening on Sunday and Monday, which could be fatal to the snow cover.
