In addition to being a multi-activity complex and theme bar at the North Gate, the Cave du Kraken has long been a partner of various events: concerts, exhibition of tuning cars, broadcast of sports matches including Euro 2024 of course. . He is also the organizer (outside the walls) this year too, of the Houdain soapbox race (see page 54) which took the name of the Krake’n Houd style. So, to properly celebrate the entry into summer, he is offering this Sunday again, for the 2e consecutive year, its barbecue competition.

The objective is to show that the barbecue also allows for fantasy by cooking on the grill, beautiful, unusual pieces of meat as well as vegetables.

The competition is open to 10 competitors, amateurs and professionals, for €50 registration, but with the guarantee of leaving with a nice prize whatever the result. Teams of 1 to 3 people will compete on their own barbecue, brazier or smoker with their own spices and fuel amenities (hay, tree species to add flavor). The charcoal and cooking products are, however, provided by the organizers and all come from local producers. Alongside seasonal vegetables and fruits, for pork this year, we will go for pork ribs, shank beef, breast and drumsticks for chicken and finally the burger option with buns and steaks. chopped provided. Participants must also make a dessert, savory or sweet. The team has a time limit to present its official plate with a quantity sufficient for all members of the jury.

The jury is made up of barbecue, catering and meat professionals and personalities recognized for their gastronomic ability and experience (gastronomic critics, journalists, presenters). It evaluates the participants on several criteria: respect for the barbecue spirit, taste, cooking, presentation of the dish, the originality of the recipe (you have to know how to take risks without getting burned) but also the cleanliness of the workspace, and the presentation of the team.

Cédric Grillin France Barbecue, 3e of the 2023 competition, will be the sponsor of this new edition.

The competition is of course open to the public who will be able to attend a beautiful show while enjoying small meals, music and some barbecue-related stands on site. All in an inimitable summer atmosphere. All that’s left to do is enjoy.
