A gesture that could have changed his life. In Vienna, Austria, work was recently carried out on an old house. On November 11, a plumber was called in once the renovation of the basement had started, reports Heute media.
During his intervention, the man noticed a rope on the ground, but did not pay attention to it. The next day, another plumber came to work on the site. And seeing the rope, this second professional tried to pull on it to dig it out, in vain. He then grabbed a shovel and started digging.
30 kg of gold coins
The plumber quickly came across a metal box that had been embedded in concrete years before. The trunk was reassembled by workers. When they opened it, they discovered many gold coins. According to the man who made the discovery, there were around 30 kg. A treasure estimated at around 2.3 million euros.
A worker present at the time of the find believes the box had been hidden in the villa before the Second World War. “It’s truly incredible. I have worked on construction sites since I was 15 years old. From time to time, we find a coin, but a discovery like this is incredible,” he confided to our Austrian colleagues. According to the law, the plumber who discovered the gold and the owner of the house should share the treasure, more than a million euros each.
