Lorient Agglomération inaugurates its Maison du Vélo located in downtown Lorient on Thursday June 27. Central information and rental location for regular or occasional cyclists, it will be possible to discover and test the different models of bicycles on offer. In addition, a “mobile bicycle point” service will meet residents in the municipalities of Lorient Agglomération (except Groix where a specific system will be set up) according to a schedule currently being developed.

Among the various new mobility services offered within the Maison du Vélo inaugurated Thursday June 27, Lorient Agglomération offers from Monday July 1st the first electric bike rental service in all 25 municipalities in its territory (excluding Ile de Groix) whereas until now it was limited to Lorient and the few neighboring municipalities with the service of the Vélo An Oriant association.

The mobility revolution takes a new step with the creation of a Maison du Vélo. Lorient Agglomération is moving from a public transport policy to a global mobility policy across the entire territory. In line with the implementation of our cycling plan, this new service from the new DSP Mobilités for all residents of the 25 municipalities of the conurbation promotes intermodality and constitutes a credible alternative to the individual car. .

Rental can be done online via the website www.izilo.bzh and the bike can be collected at the Maison du Vélo located 10 rue Victor Massé in Lorient. 660 electric bikes will be available including folding bikes, cargo bikes, longtail (with a long seat at the back for children) and even bikes to transport people with reduced mobility (PRM).

The bike can also be delivered to one of the 25 municipalities in the region (excluding Ile de Groix), for long-term rentals (from 1 to 6 months). This long-term rental is also aimed at residents of neighboring areas with a valid Breizh Go or IziLo subscription in order to promote intermodality.

Bikes can also be rented by the day, over three days, or by the week, for example during vacation periods, during major events where it is sometimes easier to travel by bike or quite simply for a family ride. the weekend.

Some examples of prices for a classic electrically assisted bicycle or folding electric bicycle:

  • Full day rental: 15 euros
  • Full price monthly rental: 93 euros*
  • Half-year rental full price: 360 euros*

* Please note that the rental of an electrically assisted bicycle is covered by 50% to 75% by the employer, in the same way as a public transport subscription if the person can justify using their bicycle for go to work.
* Please also note that reduced rates will be offered for students, job seekers, annual IziLo or Breizh Go subscribers as well as people whose QF (Family Quotient) threshold is less than or equal to €880 and QF less than or equal to €1,100 for people receiving AAH.

More than 800,000 euros in subsidies for the purchase of electrically assisted bicycles

Cargo bike, electric bike or folding bike: since spring 2021, Lorient Agglomération has been offering €100 to €250 in assistance for the purchase of one of these bikes. Since this aid was put in place, more than 4,300 households have benefited from it for a total grant amount of 834,000 euros. Intermunicipal aid is reserved for residents of Lorient Agglomération, and it can be combined with any municipal aid and state aid. Intended to promote cycling as a means of everyday travel, it appeals to residents of urban city centers as well as rural communities.

The deployment of the new bicycle rental service will lead to the elimination of this acquisition assistance system as it has been in place since May 2021. Residents are therefore invited to submit their application before September 30, 2024. in order to benefit from existing aid. Subsequently, during the Community Council of October 2024, a new system will be presented according to modalities which remain to be specified.
