Faced with a reduction in staff during the holidays, the Secours Populaire du Maine-et-Loire is launching an urgent appeal for new volunteers for the summer season.

Despite the holidays, the association’s reception centers will remain open in July and August throughout the department. They are essential to support people in difficulty.

Impact of Lack of Volunteers

The lack of volunteers compromises the quality of the reception, particularly in the areas of Angers, Trélazé, Châteauneuf-sur-Sarthe and Longué-Jumelles. “For the most precarious people, summer is not synonymous with vacations, swimming or sunbathing. For more than 10% of the population of Maine et Loire, the summer months will be, like the rest of the year, times of uncertainty and anxiety. Secours populaire volunteers are keen to continue their mission of solidarity. Despite this, the association needs reinforcements to continue to provide a quality welcome.”underlines Ludovic Cadeau from Secours Populaire du Maine-et-Loire.

The association invites everyone with free time, even for one or two half-days per week, to join their team. Their help is crucial to continue providing adequate support to people in need during this time.

How to Become a Volunteer

Interested people can go to the association’s headquarters, located at 21 bis boulevard Daviers in Angers, or call 02 41 88 58 13 for more information.
