Diomaye Faye catalyzes the future of Senegal in Paris

The President of the Republic of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, recently made an official visit to Paris, marking a significant step in bilateral relations between Senegal and France, as well as in multilateral cooperation with other international partners. .

During this visit, which took place at the end of June 2024, President Faye participated in several high-level meetings with world leaders and representatives of international organizations. Among the highlights of his stay, he met President Emmanuel Macron to discuss issues of common interest relating to Franco-Senegalese cooperation and the need to renew relations between the two countries. This meeting made it possible to reaffirm the commitment of the two nations to strengthen their historical and strategic ties.

The Senegalese Head of State also had fruitful discussions with other influential personalities, including President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, the Secretary General of La Francophonie, the Director General of the OECD, as well as representatives of the Foundation Bill Gates, of the European Union, the French Development Agency (AFD), and the Eiffage Group. These meetings made it possible to strengthen existing partnerships and explore new opportunities for cooperation in key areas such as economic development, security, and public health.

As part of his participation in the Global Forum for Vaccine Sovereignty and Innovation in Paris, President Faye highlighted the importance of the initiative supported by the Pasteur Institute of Dakar in Diamniadio, aimed at strengthening local capacities in medical research and pharmaceutical production. This platform, benefiting from a major investment of more than $250 million, represents a strong commitment to the health autonomy of Senegal and Africa as a whole.

Finally, the Head of State took advantage of this visit to meet the Senegalese community established in France, thus expressing his support and commitment to compatriots residing abroad.

President Diomaye Faye’s visit to Paris is part of a dynamic of consolidation of Senegal’s diplomatic and economic relations on the international scene, highlighting its strategic vision for sustainable development and regional and international cooperation.
