Neuville : 6
Saint-Georges-de-Reneins: 3

Call them “the Invincibles”. The players of Motoball Club Neuvillois have in fact been stretching their invincibility since September 16, 2023, the date of a defeat against Troyes (3-1).
Their last victory? This Saturday at home in the semi-final return of the Coupe de France against Saint-Georges-de-Reneins. Already winners last week in the first leg (1-2), Marc Compain’s partners finished the job perfectly in front of an audience showered by heavy, almost continuous rain (6-3).

“We are happy to offer this final to our public”

In control, despite difficult weather conditions, Neuville opened the scoring with a magnificent free kick from Louis Magnin (1-0, 16e). However, we had to wait until the third quarter for the locals to feel comfortable on the scoreboard with goals from Killian Nicolleau (2-0, 41e) and Marc Compain (3-0, 43e). “We played faster and were able to produce more play”appreciated Bertrand Delavault, the MBCN coach.

Louis Magnin scored his hat-trick with two new goals at the start of the last act (4-0, 61e ; 5-0, 64e). To quibble, we could criticize Neuvillois, in addition to a lack of realism in the second quarter, a seven-minute lapse in concentration that cost them three goals (5-3 between the 68e and the 75e). If Wallace Nicolleau closed the score, Neuville had however long since secured his place in the final of the Coupe de France against Troyes, on September 7 in Haut-Poitou. The first since that lost in 2020 against these same Trojans while the MBCN has not won this trophy since 2017, which it has lifted eleven times. “We are happy to offer this final to our public. Now we will have to win it. And, before thinking about it, we must not skip the steps »warned the MBCN technician.

The reigning French champion, undefeated leader in Elite 1, travels to Troyes (2e) on July 6 before welcoming Camaret (4e) on the 13th, at 6:30 p.m., and to go to Carpentras (3e) the 20th. “Once we get through these games, we can talk about what we can and can’t do. For now, we have the cards in hand but let’s remain wary”concluded Bertrand Delavault.
