A new corps commander for the 13th BSMAT located in Auvergne and Limousin

During a ceremony organized at the Château de la Batisse in Chanonat (Puy-de-Dôme), on June 25, Colonel Laurent Billières took command of the 13th Material Support Base (13th BSMAT). He thus succeeds Colonel Jean-Hugues Friederich.

As a reminder, this unit specializing in the maintenance of the Army is spread over four sites: Clermont-Ferrand, which houses the headquarters and the land mobility skills center; Mills where the central warehouse for maintaining land equipment in operational condition is located; Tulle and its center of excellence in workshop engineering; Saint-Astier (Dordogne) where the storage and storage center for complete equipment is located under controlled humidity and temperature.

Change of command to the 92nd infantry regiment of Clermont-Ferrand

La 13e BSMAT relies on a workforce of 650 personnel, mainly civilians (a quarter of military personnel). It is subordinate to the staff of the Land Industrial Maintenance Service (SMITer) whose director, Major General Olivier Cornefert, presided over the transfer of command in Chanonat.

According to the established formula, pronounced by Major General Cornefert: “You will henceforth recognize Colonel Billières here present as your leader…”.

The new chief of staff

At the end of his initial training at the special military school of Saint-Cyr, promotion “General Béthouart”, Laurent Billières joined the artillery then the 40th artillery regiment of Suippes where he notably commanded the 4th firing battery. In 2011, he joined the Land Forces Command in Lille before joining the War School in Paris. Subsequently, he served on the Army staff, then on the Integrated Structure for maintaining land equipment in operational condition in Versailles, before being assigned to the staff of the Army Service. Land-based industrial maintenance. He joined the hardware arm in 2018.
