Nîmes Métropole asked the Edeis company, responsible for managing the airport, to reimburse it for the rents collected between 2015 and 2020.

It was an almost “happy” Jean-François Lheureux who presented himself this Wednesday morning to the press. Beyond the “good figures” for the 2023 administrative account, the general director of services announced that Nîmes métropole had asked Edeis to reimburse him for the rents paid by companies on the airport site, over the period from 2015 to 2020.

This sum would represent a total of €4.8 million, reports Nîmes métropole. “ This is a request from the Regional Chamber of Accounts », insists Jean-François Lheureux. The director is right. On the other hand, last year, Nîmes métropole was not so impatient at the idea of recovering these credits. According to one of our sources, this affair “ had been swept under the rug » with the results of the director at the time, Gregory Merelo, which seemed to satisfy the president (Les Républicains) Franck Proust.

Today, the director has changed: Gregory Merelo has been removed, replaced by Jérôme Nolesini. Relations between Nîmes métropole and Edeis have changed slightly. “ The profile of the new director is rather financial. This will allow us to discuss figures », continues the general director. A conciliation was opened. For Edeis, the contract concluded with Nîmes métropole provided for the collection of its rents. A contract validated, at the time, by the legality control of the Gard prefecture.
