Morocco and Sierra Leone have joined the African Solidarity Fund (ASF), bringing the number of member countries to 25, said the Ivorian Minister of Economy, Planning and Development, President of the Board of Governors. of the Fund, Kaba Nialé, during the 3rd ordinary session of the Board of Governors of the Fund, held Friday June 21, 2024 in Abidjan.

Quoted by the Ivorian Press Agency (AIP), Ms. Kaba Nialé, stressed that the accession of Morocco and Sierra Leone to the FSA constitutes an act of consolidation and diversification of centuries-old relations, of fraternal friendship and of active solidarity that unites African countries.

The accession process resulted from a two-year dialogue process. Six other countries have also expressed their desire to join the Fund, indicated Ms. Kaba, noting that the council encouraged the director general of the fund, Abdourahmane Diallo, to accelerate their accession process, according to the same source.

“The FSA is today a strong institution which is growing and expanding, and which we are supporting in its evolution so that it can embrace all African countries”also underlined the minister, rejoicing at the fact that the FSA records, year after year, convincing results.

In this regard, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fund, Kobenan Tanoh, quoted by the AIP, noted that the FSA accounts record a profit of 2.2 billion FCFA for a total volume of operations of 245 .6 billion FCFA, for the 2023 financial year.
