Obviously, we are far from records since it has already reached 40.5°C in Bordeaux on June 18, 2022, a particularly remarkable day which also saw the mercury reach 41°C in Mont-de-Marsan and even the 41.9°C in Cazaux, in Gironde. The South-West is not the only place where the heat was intense this Wednesday since even Paris and Vannes crossed the threshold of 30°C. A first sweat which, beyond its relative magnitude, especially surprises the organisms after weeks where autumn had invaded the middle of spring, with repeated rains and remarkable freshness.

SKY WEATHER

Thursday, the hottest day in France

As Météo-France points out, Thursday should be the hottest day of the week nationwide. The mildness will be noticeable from daybreak, with minimums increasing and generally high for the season, particularly on the Mediterranean coast, in a large southwest, in Île-de-France, in Alsace, and even in Lyonnais . In the afternoon, we expect up to 35°C locally, particularly in Occitanie and the lower Rhône valley, and locally 33 to 34°C between Burgundy and Champagne.

In the South-West, we expect 32°C in Bordeaux, just like in the Landes, and the 30°C mark will still be crossed in Charente-Maritime, Béarn and even Dordogne. A sequence of heat which will be accompanied at the end of the afternoon by a stormy deterioration which will circulate from the South-West towards the Massif Central.

Sunday, the freshness returns

From Friday, the ocean coast will experience a drop in temperatures with the return of the westerly wind. This drop will become widespread this weekend. The start of next week will see the return of somewhat timid temperatures for the start of July under the influence of ocean winds. In the South-West, the stormy streak will continue with… a return of rain on Sunday.
