New green spaces to strengthen the quality of life and the attractiveness of Nice

The city of Nice is inaugurating new green spaces, such as the “Promenade du Paillon season 2” and the Villa Paradiso garden in Cimiez in 2025, as part of its sustainable development strategy and promotion of local heritage.

These urban development projects aim to improve the quality of life of residents and strengthen the economic and tourist attractiveness of the city.

Nice, green capital of the Mediterranean

Since 2008, Nice has been committed to making the city a green capital of the Mediterranean. Faced with the climate emergency, the city is investing in various green projects, such as soil permeabilization, the creation of natural spaces, the greening of schools, and urban agriculture.

Its objective is to create 70 additional hectares of green spaces, contributing to the fight against global warming and improving the well-being of its inhabitants.

These actions are part of the “Territorial Climate Air Energy Plan 2019-2025” of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, which aims for carbon neutrality by 2050.

In addition, in January 2024, Nice ranked first among French cities with more than 300,000 inhabitants for quality of life, according to the Journal du Dimanche.

The 1st phase of work on the Promenade du Paillon season 2 inaugurated on June 22, 2024

The inauguration of the first phase of work on the “Promenade du Paillon season 2” attracted more than a thousand people eager to discover the new landscaping covering 5,000 m².

This terraced garden with its Mediterranean atmosphere, decorated with olive trees, almond trees, holm oaks and umbrella pines, offers visitors a true haven of peace and freshness in the heart of the city and close to Old Nice.

This new green space invites Nice residents and tourists to rediscover the city from another angle, thanks to its two monumental staircases leading to a belvedere offering a breathtaking view of Nice.

It will help to bring freshness and greenery as well as better apprehension of periods of heatwave.

New stages will be revealed in September and in 2025.

This urban development project, which combines sustainable development, enhancement of local heritage and improvement of the quality of life of residents, reinforces the attractiveness of Nice as a city where life is good and a leading tourist destination.

A 1.6 hectare park in the heart of Nice Cimiez from 2025

The city of Nice highlights its commitment to the environment and quality of life by developing a new 1.6 hectare green space in the Cimiez district.

This project to redevelop the Villa Paradiso garden, classified as a Historic Monument and Garden of Major Interest, aims to preserve the authenticity of the neighborhood while offering a haven of peace and biodiversity to residents and visitors.

The redevelopment of this garden focuses on opening up the landscape, creating structuring axes, securing the building and choosing plants that respect the local ecosystem.

Wooden play areas for children and spaces dedicated to relaxation and reading will also be set up. The villa will not be sold and could host a cultural activity thanks to a long lease.

This project will be carried out in two phases with delivery scheduled for June and December 2025. It is part of a global approach to sustainable development and economic attractiveness.

The city of Nice thus reaffirms its commitment to combining economic growth, attractiveness and quality of life by offering quality green spaces to its residents and visitors.
