On June 26, at M-2 of the passage of the Paralympic Flame relay in Limoges, the mayor of Limoges Émile Roger Lombertie, and Sylvie Rozette, deputy delegate for sports, inaugurated a countdown installed at Place de la République, which will allow locals and tourists to know the number of days separating them from this internationally renowned sporting event.

The arrival of the Flame in Limoges will take place on the second day of Relay in France, when the 12 Flames will advance simultaneously in the heart of our regions. The relay itself will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end around 6:55 p.m. with the lighting of the Olympic cauldron on Place de la République.

The first Summer Paralympic Games in France

For the first time in its history, France will host the Summer Paralympic Games on its territory from August 28 to September 8, 2024. In order to prepare the public to celebrate them, the Paralympic Flame will arrive in France on August 25, 2024 for 4 days relays of great intensity in around fifty towns in all regions of France. The 12 Flames will each take their own path, converge simultaneously and reunite in Paris.

The journey of the flame in Limoges

The flame will leave from Place de la République and will follow the following route: Place de la République, Rue de la Courtine, Rue Jean-Jaurès, Rue Jeanty Sarre, Rue Élie-Berthet, Rue Haute-Vienne, Place Haute-Vienne, Rue Banc Léger, Place des Bancs, Place de la Motte, Rue du Clocher, Rue Saint-Martial and finally Place de la République.

Entertainment throughout the city

Republic Square :

This is the start and finish Village of the Torch Relay. This space will bring together the main events and partners. A temporary sports slab of 150 m2 as well as a basin which will be ignited at the end of the relay will be installed in the central part of the square. Wrestling, wheelchair rugby, wheelchair football, table tennis, basketball, climbing, tandem joëlette, blowgun boccia, taekwendo will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. alongside many others activities (exhibitions, quizzes, etc.). From 9 p.m., the public will be able to enjoy a musical evening.

Place Haute-Vienne:

This is where a mobile baseball cage will be installed.

Place de la Motte:

In front of the central halls, an urban tennis and squash court will be available to the public until the last passage of the torchbearer (around 6:45 p.m.).
