Salon-de-Provence: the CP de la Bastide Haute name their play park

Salon-de-Provence: the CP de la Bastide Haute name their play park

There are sometimes moments of grace… that of Friday June 21 is one of them. In fact, it was on this day that the students of CP of the Upper Bastide officially inaugurated the park adjoining Mas Dosseto with the mayor of Salon-de-Provence Nicolas Isnard. And they were not a little proud to be at the origin of this initiative and to have been able to convince the elected officials.

“This idea germinated in the children’s heads when, during the discussion we have every morning and during which they tell what they did, they realized that the parks where they played had no names”, says Anne, their teacher. All it took was for this deficiency to turn into educational project.

A project that motivated all of the 13 students of this class. “We first went for a walk and saw that there was no name”explain Jalal, Raed, Shanyce and Lou, who continue: “We then looked for names. To do this, we discussed with the CM2 seniors. Then we wrote a letter to the mayor to ask him if he agreed and to suggest three names”.

“When I come with my children, will they see my name then?”

And to their delight, they received a fairly quick response from the mayor. “I was immediately very enthusiastic about this idea,” he reports. He then explained to the children that the entire municipal Council had validated their proposal and therefore agreed to name their playground “the Mas park”. The other playground also frequented by children and also without a name, is not managed by the town hall, so it cannot do anything. But for children, this first name is already a beautiful thing.

Especially since, as Nicolas Isnard informed them, “your names will be forever associated with this park”. The children all wrote their first names on the plaque. “When I come with my children, will they see my name then?” rejoiced a young student, all smiles. The same smile was drawn on the lips of the teacher, the parents present, the teaching team and the actors of this neighborhood.
