The mayor of Châtellerault revealed the information during a press conference on June 3, 2024. Jean-Pierre Abelin discussed the projects carried out for the two years before the end of his mandate.

The Vertigo Park leisure complex, which is to be established on the former Star wasteland, along Avenue Louis-Ripault, should open at the end of 2025.

“The building permit has been submitted, work should begin at the beginning of 2025 for start-up at Christmas of the same year”announced the mayor.

“The objective is to open in November-December 2025”

Contacted, the project promoters validated. “We submitted the building permit on May 31, it’s very recent. He is under instruction »indicates on the telephone Florent Vergne, one of the three managers, with his brothers Thomas and Romain, of Verinvest, a Bordeaux company at the origin of the Vertigo concept.

The investor also confirms the schedule: “The objective is an opening in November-December 2025, with a building permit obtained at the end of 2024, six to seven months of construction work and three to four months of interior design. »

A year late

This is rather good news for the municipality even if the project was a year late compared to Verinvest’s first announcements. The reason ? The Star land, held by the EPF (Public Land Establishment) on behalf of the City, had to first be subject to decontamination. “Remediation studies are generally very long”justifies the director of Verinvest.

All the lights seem green today, provided that the building permit is accepted obviously. The operation, we can recall, concerns a leisure center indoor of 4,300 m2 with 14-lane bowling alley, “trampoline park”, laser game, children’s play park, plus various games rooms.

Two branded businesses (Signorizza pizzeria and La Cervoiserie beer bar) have been announced and 160 parking spaces will be provided. In total, 30 jobs would be created.

The fifth complex

Verinvest, which is silent on the amount of the investment (several million euros), has already opened four complexes on the same model in Libourne (Gironde), in Angoulême and Cognac (Charente), and in Villeneuve-sur-Lot (Lot -et-Garonne).

Gironde society is primarily interested in medium-sized towns where these leisure activities are absent. The mayor of Châtellerault, who visited one of these parks, said he ” impressed “.
