The metropolitan area is currently impacted by storm Caetano, which has also affected the department of Maine-et-Loire since Thursday, November 21. This meteorological episode is characterized by wind gusts locally reaching up to 120 km/h and snowfall. The orange alert for strong winds will be lifted in the department from 9 p.m. this evening, but the yellow alert for snow and ice will remain in effect until tomorrow, Friday November 22, at 10 a.m. The negative temperatures expected overnight increase the risk of icy conditions on the roads. In this context, and to prevent any risk of blockage or additional accidents, a zonal decree has been issued concerning the circulation of heavy goods vehicles:
– Ban on overtaking maneuvers for vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes.
– Reduction of the maximum authorized speed by 20 km/h on the entire national road network (national roads and motorways).
The Prefect calls on everyone to be extremely vigilant, to respect safety instructions and to limit their travel to what is strictly necessary. Regular updates on developments will be provided. To stay informed, consult the Météo-France website and the Prefecture’s social networks.
