After Travers, Couvet will also be entitled to its moult. The General Council of Val-de-Travers validated Monday evening a credit of nearly 6 million francs, in order to redo the crossing of the village on the north-south axis. The work will be carried out with the Department of Bridges and Roads from spring 2025, and will last a little over two years. On the program: the redevelopment of public spaces on Grand’Rue between 2025 and 2026, then on Rue St-Gervais, but also the repair of the municipal water network, described as dilapidated. All groups underlined the importance of the project and approved it, with 39 votes in favor and one vote against. The current state of the road, the difficulty of crossing as well as the opportunity to work with the Canton on this project satisfied the members of the General Council. On the right, the parties still deplored the elimination of parking spaces. “Sufficient spaces must be maintained to guarantee good access to shops,” noted Niels Rosselet-Christ for the UDC.

The Municipality of Val-de-Travers had organized two information sessions with traders, during which this question also came up. But with the new standards, it was difficult to do otherwise. The idea is above all to raise awareness among the population to use the Collèges and Preyel car parks for long-term parking, so that the remaining blue zones in the Grand’Rue are freed up for businesses, as detailed by municipal councilor Eric Sivignon: “There is potential by limiting the duration of parking on the Grand’Rue.

It’s yes to the internalization of Barak

At the opening of the session, the Vallonnier General Council also spoke out in favor of the internalization of Barak within the Commune, by validating a credit of 105,000 francs for the renovation of the building located in Fleurier already welcoming young people from Val-de-Travers. Barak’s positive impact on youth over the past 14 years, and the work of his committee, were highlighted by all legislative groups. Even if the question of finances was raised by the PLR, it was ultimately the perpetuation of the institution which was supported by the entire General Council (only one abstention). A relief for municipal councilor Sarah Fuchs-Rota, who recalls that times had become financially difficult for Barak: “These subsidies that the committee can no longer obtain, the money from foundations which is no longer paid, we As a Commune, we will be able to maintain this center and keep it afloat. »

An amendment was also accepted, requesting a report from the Municipal Council when presenting its 2026 and 2027 budget. Work must also take place on the building, and reflections will be carried out to know how the doors will open to other people. other entities. /swe
