One on one Spain against Switzerland: Morata did not want to make history

Morata missed the opportunity to make history by giving a penalty to Pedri, who missed it. Had he scored, Morata would have equaled Fernando Torres as the third top scorer in the history of the Spanish team. However, Yeremy Pino was in charge of opening the scoring. After Pedri’s penalty was rejected, the ball reached Yeremy, who did not forgive and sent it into the back of the net. It was a solid match for Spain against a Switzerland that managed to score two goals against the team led by Luis de la Fuente. The entry of Bryan Gil and Bryan Zaragoza into the field revitalized the match and gave life to the Spanish team. Both players excelled, scored and secured the victory for Spain.

No complications for the Txuriurdin goalkeeper in the first half of the match. Switzerland did not appear for many minutes in Remiro’s domain. He did not come out after the break and Robert Sánchez came on in his place.

Athletic’s strong, cutting off Switzerland’s possible counterattacks. Good first half anticipating and associating with his partner in the center of the Spanish defense. He fell in the struggle with Monteiro, who remained in front of Robert Sánchez. It could have cost Switzerland a draw. Monteiro collided with Paredes, emerged victorious and beat Robert Sánchez. Paredes had it, after a cross to the far post from Grimaldo but the header fell into the goalkeeper’s hands.

Good defensive actions in the few pressures that Spain had in the first half. The Barça center back is a player with intensity, character and personality on the field. Casadó’s exits to recover the ball were impeccable.

He put a filtered pass inside to Morata who was close to controlling… The Barça player has a lot of precision in the pass. He wanted to give Morata a goal and wasted the opportunity to put Spain ahead on the scoreboard. Another great pass from Pedri to Morata, which although offside, was a very clear chance but the Milan player found himself with the goalkeeper. He missed the penalty that Morata gave him. The Canary Islander came close to scoring with a great shot that just barely went high. Heliodoro chanted his name and gave him a huge ovation when he left the field in the 78th minute. Another great game from Pedri… he is a differential player.
