Rodez: for its first edition, the F’estivada will have cost €600,000… a deficit

During the study of the main budget of the single financial account in the municipal council, this Monday, June 24, the cost of organizing the festival was invited into the debate.

How much did the first edition of F’estivada cost? This is a question that the elected representatives of the municipal council examined this Monday, June 24. And in particular Joseph Donore. The community’s financier since 2020, the one who recently resigned from the majority camp to join the opposition, carried out a critical analysis, to say the least, of the main budget of the community’s single financial account for the 2023 financial year for its first session in opposition.

However, at first glance, it presents favorable arguments. Christophe Lauras, his successor, rejoicing “with a high self-financing capacity of more than 6 million euros” or even a surplus operating result of 8.7 million euros. But the opposition elected officials, Serge Julien on the right, Arnaud Combet on the left for Rodez en commun as well as Iléana Bertau for Rodez Citoyen were concerned about an increase in operating expenses of 12%. In addition to increases in energy costs, these can be explained in particular by the expenses linked to the organization of F’estivada.

“It’s true,” admits the mayor

The overall budget of the festival amounts to 1.2 million euros excluding personnel costs and the deficit is 603,000 €, excluding salaries. The opposition protests against a gap vis-à-vis the potential “100 000 €” deficit, announced in our columns by the councilor the day after the first edition. “ It’s true, F’estivada costs money.recognizes Christian Teyssèdre. But if we could do the event for free we would do it, what matters to us is to offer this to young people!”

Not depriving himself at the same time of accusing the new rebel. “Mr. Donore, it was you who voted for these budgets and you are now coming to comment on them, you must be the first to do this in France!”

Despite six votes against and six abstentions from opposition elected officials, the budget was adopted. And the second edition is planned at the stud farm from July 11 to 13, more than 20,000 tickets have already been sold.
