Despite the bad weather, the wind and some passing rain, the Île district vibrated this Saturday, June 29, on the occasion of the sea and Saint-Pierre festival. It started on the evening of Friday, June 28, with a manga workshop on the sea, an introduction to tango and a tango evening. Saturday, June 29, the 15th Pascale Aversano inter-company rowing challenge attracted some 200 people who came to the forecourt of the town hall, at the end of the afternoon. This challenge pays tribute to Pascale Aversano, a club volunteer who died a few years ago. Her parents were fishermen.

Fourteen crews, or more than 100 rowers, took part in this competition organized by the Venetian Rowers. The participants, who trained well before this tournament, came from the Martigues region.

Two crews took turns in a race, completing a 300-metre lap on the Caronte channel. Those with the two best times faced off in the final.

Gino, 13, a rower in the children’s team of the Atelier de Beauté company, gave his thoughts on his first traditional rowing competition: “I love it! It was good! We went fast and we won our first heat, I’m happy. I like the fact that we work our whole body, like the arms and legs, the speed, the synchronization. The public motivated us.”
