Wherever you walk in Brest (Finistère) this Saturday June 29, 2024, the echo of the bass resonates and invites you to deviate from your route to join one of the stages of Astropolis. For its 28th edition, the electronic music festival has organized several free events in the city and with this beautiful sun, it’s a hit!
Shorts, sequins and bobs are out. Hundreds of festival-goers wander from one spot to another. Some stick to the stage to dance to the rhythm of the sets that follow one another, others take a nap, lying on the grass: everyone has their own way of enjoying this afternoon of sound.
“Young people just have to behave!” »
Square Beautemps-Beaupré, overlooking Brest harbor, is taken over by the Nantes collective Combo Bongos. The view is spectacular, the atmosphere relaxed. “We can thank the town hall for providing such green places in the city center “, appreciates Bernard. At 70 years old, he and his group of friends from Brest are “Astro regulars”.
And they assure that yes, electro appeals to all ages: “I started the free partys in the early 1990s, young people had better watch out! »exclaims Eric, in his sixties.
An enchanted parenthesis, far from the political context? “So not quite, I’m holding a polling station in Bellevue tomorrowlaughs Bernard. So I’m not going to do anything crazy tonight.”.
Brest highlighted
The fame of Astropolis now extends beyond the borders of Finistère and even Brittany, as Sylvain, who took the train from Bayonne to enjoy the event, testifies: “When you like techno you know Astro, yes. I’ve been wanting to come for a long time.”. The thirty-year-old even confesses to having had a ” thunderbolt “ for Brest, certainly helped by exceptional weather (we won’t tell him anything about it).
As for Léa, a thirty-year-old from Cap d’Agde, it was by settling in the city of Ponant that she discovered techno music, via Astropolis. “The festival really knows how to showcase the city, with cool places to set up stages. Usually, techno evenings are more in hangars, there it’s super welcoming”.
Waiting for Keroual
A little further on, the Kennedy garden has changed into dancefloor XXL. Dylan Dylan, ambassador of the house French, shares the decks with Célélé, Astropolis’ resident artist.
Anna and Johanna enjoy “the Brest institution” that is Astropolis, with their young children. But this evening, it’s the dads who will look after the children because the girlfriends will go and enjoy the highlight of the show, the big evening at the Manoir de Keroual.
There, under the stars and between the trees, the night birds will dance until dawn.
