After the premises of the Cadets de Bretagne or the Dojo de Bréquigny, the From stadium to employment operation, in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine), moved to the Villejean district, to the Robert-Poirier departmental stadium. Tuesday June 25, 2024, in this large covered facility, the athletics track was occupied by recruiters and job seekers.

“Recruit differently”

“This is an event to recruit differently, by highlighting the interpersonal skills of candidates”explains Stéphanie Lorette, director of the France Travail agency (formerly Pôle emploi) for the Rennes-Ouest sector, which covers the country of Brocéliande, the municipalities of Rennes metropolis as well as certain Rennes districts including that of Villejean.

For this new edition, the Brittany athletics league is alongside the participants, with the Rennes athletics club. The activities are designed to highlight team spirit, the ability to listen and mobilize, rigor, a sense of anticipation, etc.

Breaking down barriers

“In the morning, everyone is anonymous, we don’t know if they are a recruiter or a job seeker. Everyone is called by their first name.”, describes the head of France Travail. A new way to break down barriers between business leaders and people looking for work.

At midday, a meal taken together precedes the lifting of anonymity. In the afternoon, it’s time for recruitment with one-on-one interviews in the stands of the athletics stadium. “The central idea is that recruiters and candidates can discover each other differently, without the formal filter of the professional interview and CV. »

60% find a job

Over the years, this new formula has proven itself, in partnership with the Employment Network. “60% of candidates find work within six months, that’s encouraging”, notes Stéphanie Lorette. For this stage at the Robert-Poirier stadium, around a hundred job seekers were present, in sports gear, with fifteen companies. Excluding temporary work, twenty job offers were to be filled.

In the territory of the Rennes-Ouest agency, there are 13,000 job seekers. “In the Rennes area, the unemployment rate (6.1%) is lower than the national average. Tensions persist, with difficulties in recruiting” in sectors of activity such as personal services, hotels and restaurants, the food industry, commerce, etc.
