Natalia: “For example, what are we doing in 2000?”
This Monday afternoon, June 24, at the C2 Cultural Center, fourteen newcomers took turns speaking to read their own production.
As part of the call for projects for the operational program budget (BOP) 104 aimed at supporting integration actions for the benefit of foreign newcomers, the “Traînière: traces of life” project was led by the Zumbo association . Matias Chebel, actor and director, led the workshop composed of participants from diverse origins. These people had a great desire to progress in learning French, to be independent and to feel comfortable in their daily life. To achieve this, Matias Chebel led this linguistic workshop with a cultural focus to learn the oral and written French language through theater techniques. Each workshop began with a very lively language warm-up which we were able to attend.
Two instructions were given to the participants before diving into writing, explains Matias Chebel. Who was or were the important person(s) in their life? What did you expect from life in the year 2000?
The texts that we heard come from the expression and artistic creation workshop in FLE. A work rich in emotion and sincerity and a restitution full of poetry and sensitivity. This project was financed by the Region and the DRAC. Matias Chebel thanks the municipality of Torcy for providing the premises for being able to work in very good conditions.
Natalia’s testimony.
She arrived at Le Creusot in September 2022 with her sisters Iulia and Valentina for the reasons we know. She is now 40 years old and has three children. In Ukraine she was an accountant and prepared estimates for constructions. In Montchanin, she worked for 10 months at Laroze caterer in 2023.
“For example, what are we doing in 2000? I was 16 years old. It was the best of times. I studied earnestly and thought about my future. I had fun with my friends, we took long walks. I dreamed a lot and I liked it. I wanted to travel the world and learn many new things. »
