In response to an oral question in the House of Representatives, the Minister of Agriculture, Mohammed Sadiki, indicated that the cost of import subsidies reached 237 million of DHadding that 41,000 heads were also imported outside of government support.

The minister attributed the rise in Eid sheep prices to “successive years of drought, although the ministry has consistently supported fodder, particularly barley and opened and subsidized imports”. To continue supplying the market with red meat, the minister affirmed the continuation of exemptions from import duties and value added tax.

“If the Kingdom does not experience significant rainfall in the future, the situation will be even more difficult,” he said before calling on the deputies: “We are open to discussion, offer us solutions. “
