Godmother, godfather, guest of honor, carte blanche, but also numerous meetings with young readers from the area’s libraries, we tell you (almost) everything about the 4th edition of the “Villeneuve se livre” literary festival.
If the dates of the literary festival were already known, from Friday September 26 to Sunday 29, the main guests were still not known, just like everything that is programmed, not only during the weekend, but before the festival, from local schools and libraries.

And it is this part, around youth and families, that Anne-Marie Davelu-Chavin, assistant for culture, along with Dominique Monnoyeur, director of cultural affairs for the territory, wanted to highlight during this presentation. . After a preamble filled with lyricism and happiness by Anne-Marie Davelu-Chavin around words and reading which “offer moments of intense happiness”, the emphasis is placed on the run-up to the festival by Dominique Monnoyeur. “In continuation of the collaborative work carried out between the different libraries of Greater Villeneuvois (in particular with the Lettres du Monde festival), literature will be shared on different sites, in different forms, before the festival”.
This is how, during the summer, readings of extracts from works by invited authors will be organized in social structures: RELAIS (day center for adults), Les Jardins de Capel (CHD la Candélie), the Régie of the Lot Valley Territory. These meetings will be led by Christian Rousseau, actor from the company Les enfants du paradis, a company which will be present throughout the festival with the same approach to sharing reading.
For young people, numerous meetings are organized in libraries and schools in the region: workshops around manga, the creation of a fresco, numerous meetings with children’s authors and illustrators. Workshops to which families are also invited. “Families are the first torchbearers of reading. This is why we turn to them throughout the festival. The street theater companies which intervene during this long weekend, always around words and reading are aimed above all at families” continues Dominique Monnoyeur.

And like any self-respecting festival, sponsorship is necessary. The godmother, Corinne Royer, is a well-known figure at the festival. She was in fact the winner of the first edition, in 2021 with her book “Pleine terre”. As for his commitments, they are well known by his readers and are found in his books on humanitarian work and the environment. She will be present throughout the festival to present her latest novel “Ceux du lac”.

The godfather is Hervé Le Tellier, an author who needs no introduction following winning the Goncourt Prize in 2020 for his novel “The Anomaly”. And this book has the distinction of being the best-selling Prix Goncourt. The author also has another particularity: he is the current president of OuLiPo (Ouvroir de Littérature Potentielle). OuLiPo will also be present during the big dictation organized at MVA. And this dictation will be concocted by Eduardo Berti, active member of OuLiPo, which promises a dictation, without a doubt, surprising and full of traps and always with a lot of humor.
During the inaugural evening on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Georges-Leygues theater, in the presence of Corinne Royer and Hervé Le Tellier, Antony Dulery, special guest of the festival and who has carte blanche throughout the weekend to talk about his infinite love for reading and for the intimate relationships that bind him to her. He made a show “this is not a reading”, and he will present extracts from it on the theater stage. And it is during this evening that the name of the winner, among the 6 authors still being selected, will be revealed.
