Coming in third position – and qualified for second – the candidate of the New Popular Front Baptiste de Fresse de Monval announces that he is withdrawing. “Despite our qualification for a second round and a gap of only 2.46 points, the period obliges us,” declared the candidate this Sunday evening. Faced with the danger of the National Rally, I am therefore withdrawing and I call on my 10,000 voters to vote for Daniel Leca.” Daniel Leca (UDI) came in second with 22.93% of the votes cast, behind the outgoing deputy Michel Guiniot (RN) and his 47.87%.

A call to systematically withdraw for the democratic forces that came third, against the RN

Inevitably disappointed, the candidate who is stepping aside talks about his great campaign, which was extremely mobilizing, as illustrated by the arrival of François Ruffin this past week: “An incredible dynamic has been born in our territory and people desperately need the measures of the New Popular Front,” says the man who still hopes to see the left in the majority after the second round. “I call on all candidates of the New Popular Front and other democratic forces who came in third place to withdraw in the same way against the National Rally.”

Baptiste de Fresse de Monval gives us “an appointment on July 8 (the day after the second round, Editor’s note) on the ground, because the fight has only just begun,” he says.
