A conflict between several people turned sour, witnesses told patrol officers from the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM), who were trying to shed light on a stabbing attack Sunday evening in the borough of Ville-Marie.

The victim, a 21-year-old woman injured in the upper body, was transported to a hospital center, where her life is out of danger, explains agent Jean-Pierre Brabant, media relations for the SPVM.

The suspects would have left on foot in a direction which remains unknown for the moment, he adds, for the moment, there is no arrest in the file.

A perimeter was established at the intersection of Sainte-Catherine Street and Atwater Avenue. The perimeter was lifted Monday morning.

Investigators were dispatched to the scene and the canine squad was involved in the search.
