From the launch of its first edition, the Biarritz Film Festival – Nouvelles Vagues presented the ambition of highlighting a young generation of filmmakers, mixing both emerging talents and already established directors.

At her side, the actress Kim Higelin or the Caesarized actor Vincent Lacoste formed the jury for this new edition.

Director Francis Ford Coppola honored in special screening

In addition to being able to attend numerous exclusive preview screenings of films, visitors to the Biarritz Film Festival – Nouvelles Vagues were able to (re)discover a great classic of the seventh art as part of “The session on the beach”.

This year, the choice of actor Vincent Lacoste (member of the jury of this second edition) focused on a feature film by the director Francis Ford Coppola titled Peggy Sue got married (1986) which was screened at Port Vieux beach on June 20.

This film by the famous American director – who presented this year Megalopolis (2024) at the Cannes Film Festival – featuring the actors Nicolas Cage et Jim Carrey at the dawn of their career also attracted many festival-goers.
