Adrien Chassagne, 21, had a flawless school career in Dordogne. He obtained a BEP, a professional baccalaureate in personal services and a BTS in social and family economics at Le Cluzeau high school in Sigoulès-et-Flaugeac.
He is currently a waiter at the cabaret Le Bambino in Bergerac, but he is also passionately interested in the old objects that he has collected at home since his childhood. This young man, curious by nature, grew up on the family farm in Thénac, at a place called La Ferrière.
Agricultural tools from 1900 to 1960
Initiated by his grandfather who kept all of his parents' tools, he in turn wanted to keep old objects of all kinds (toys, furniture, posters or tools) and also recreate scenes from the daily life at the beginning of the 19th century. “I set up a first museum in the old farm cellar in June 2022 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of my collection,” explains Adrien. It serves to preserve the objects and tools of ordinary life from the last century with the aim of preserving, enhancing and keeping in mind what constitutes both the heritage of our rural heritage and the memories and anecdotes hidden behind these objects. . »
The second museum was set up in May 2023 in part of the old barn. This highlights the different agricultural tools used between 1900 and 1960 before mechanization, notably with the arrival of tractors in 1954.
“Rare pearls”
The two museums already have more than 500 objects and tools. They are not currently open for permanent visits, but they can accommodate visitors or groups by appointment (1).
“My passion is hunting and unearthing rare pearls in attics, flea markets, at antique dealers or sales depots in the region,” underlines the young collector with great enthusiasm which will certainly lead him to expand his collection and expand its museums.
